THE ABA DABA HONEYMOON
1. 'Way down in the Congoland
Lived a happy chimpanzee.
She loved a monkey with long tail
(Lordy, how she loved him!)
Each night he would find her there,
Swinging in the cocoanut tree,
And the monkey gay, at the break of day,
Loved to hear his Chimpie say:
はるか彼方のコンゴの地
陽気なチンパンジーが住んでいた。
彼女は尻尾の長いモンキーを愛していた
（ああ、何と彼を愛していたことか！）
毎夜彼は彼女が居るところを探したもの、
ココナッツの木で揺れていた彼女を、
そこで陽気なモンキーは、夜が明ける頃、
恋人のチンピーの睦言を聞きたがった。

Said the Chimpie to the Monk,
"Baba, daba, daba, daba, daba, daba, dab,"
Said the Monkey to the Chimp.
All night long they'd chatter away,
All day long there were happy and gay,
Swinging and singing in their hunky-tonkey way.
"Aba, daba, daba, daba, daba, daba, dab,"
Means "Monk, I love but you."
"Baba, daba, dab," in monkey talk
Means "Chimp, I love you, too."

『アバ ダバ ダバ ダバ ダバ ダバ ダブ』
チンピーはモンキに言うと、
『ババ ダバ ダバ ダバ ダバ ダバ ダブ』
モンキはチンピーに応えた。
夜通し彼らはおしゃべりし通し、
日がな彼らは幸せで楽しく過ごし、
エロっぽく踊り歌ったもの。
『アバ ダバ ダバ ダバ ダバ ダバ ダブ』
というのは『モンキさん、あなただけを愛しているわ』ってこと。
『ババ ダバ ダバ ダバ ダバ ダバ ダブ』
と返した意味は『チンプちゃん、僕も愛しているよ』。
(1st time)
Then the big baboon one night in June,
He married them and very soon,
They went upon their aba, daba honeymoon.
それで六月のある夜、老バブーンが、
二人を結婚させそして直ぐに、
二人はアバ・ダバ・ハネムーンに出かけたとさ。

One night they were made man and wife,
And now they cry, "This is the life,"
Since they came from their aba, daba honeymoon.

ある夜ふたりは男と女になった、
そして彼らは叫んだ、『これこそ人生（猿生）だよ』
ふたりがアバ・ダバ・ハネムーンから帰ってからのこと。
2. Well, you should have heard that band
※ チンパンジーとモンキー（尾の長い猿）がココナッツ木の上で愛し合うというというナンセンスソングで Under the Bamboo Tree と同趣向の歌。
Play upon their wedding day,
Each Chimp and Monkey had nutshells
(Lordy, how they played them)
And now it is ev'ry night,
High up in the cocoanut tree.
It's the same old thing, with the same old swing,
When the Monk and Chimpie sing:

ねえ、あの群れの叫びを聞いてごらん、
結婚式の日の、
チンプとモンキーの気が狂ったさまを

ルース・ロイ Ruth Roye がニューヨークのパレス・シアター（多分ヴォードヴィル劇場だろう）で 1914 年に紹介。最初のレコーディングはアーサー・コリンズとバイロン・ハーラン Arthur Collins and Byron Harlan で売上はトップとなった。
しかしこの歌が不動の人気曲（キッドソングのスタンダード）となったのは、デビー・レイノルズとカールトン・カーペンターが 1950 年にミリオンヒットを飛ばしてから。
20世紀初頭のヒット曲をちりばめた、避暑地キャッツキルで２週間を過ごす家族を描くミュージカルコメディ『愛の二週間』 Two Weeks With Love (MGM, 1950) でのデビー・レイノルズ＆カールトン・カーペンターのデュエット シーンは映画「ザッツ・エンターテイメント」 でも見られる。（二人はこの映画で、 Row, Row, Row も披露している）
