ビングと歌おう Sing Along with Bing

1959 年12月、56歳で円熟期にあったビング・クロスビーは合唱団をバックに、トラックあたり２～３曲からなる19～20世紀初頭の誰にでも知られている歌を、"皆で歌おう(sing along)" スタイルで２日に渡って録音した。12トラック、全33曲からなるレコードは Join Bing Sing Along というタイトルでワーナー・レーベルから発売された。
このレコードは、同内容、同ジャケットで RCA からも出され、ミッチ・ミラーの "皆で歌おう" の向うを張って大好評。続編を望む声が高まった。そこで再びフォーク・ソング、ホーム・ソング、スタンダード・ナンバーを集め、ちょうど一年後の 1960年 12月末の４日に渡って 101曲の歌を録音した。合唱団と共にだいたい１コーラス３～５曲のメドレーにして歌った。共演は前作同様のジャック・ハローラン指揮の合唱団と楽団、アレンジはボブ・トンプソンとこれも前作同様。
アルバムは、２枚に分けて出された。１枚目は 50曲を収録した Join Bing In A Gang Song Sing Along (ワーナー）で RCA からは Sing Along with Bing Crosby and His Friends として出された。２枚目の51曲を収録したアルバムは　Join Bing and Sing Along 51 Good Time Songs としてワーナーから発売された。さまざまなナツメロやスタンダード、黒人霊歌、イタリア民謡、ドイツ、アイルランド、スコットランド古謡まで次から次へと飛び出してくる楽しさは大変なものだが、近年では楽譜も入手困難な19世紀のアメリカン・ヒット・ソングが多数歌われているので、アメリカン・ポピュラー音楽の研究資料としても価値がある（レコード・コレクターズ誌 (1984) 青木啓氏の文を抜粋）

３枚のレコードのうち、１枚目の Join Bing Sing Along はCD発売されているが、残りの２枚はCD化はされていないようで残念だが、２枚目の Join Bing In A Gang Song Sing Along は YouTube で聞くことが出来る。
