Singin' the Blues

Singin' the Blues (Till My Daddy Comes Home)

§1 Singin' the Blues (1921)

Connie Boswell and The Original Memphis Five in Hi-Fi (RCA), Barbara Lea at the Atlanta Jazz Party (JAZZology)

  Frankie Trumbauer and His Orchestra;
Feb. 4, 1927; New York City; Okeh record, Victor(issued)
Frankie Trumbauer (C-melody sax), Eddie Lang (guitar)
  Bix Beiderbeck (cornet)

  Frank Trumbauer and His Orchestra
  Jan. 10, 1929;
  Frankie Trumbauer (C-melody sax)
  Bee Palmer (vocal)
Ted Koehler

Please Don't Talk About Me When I Gone

Aug. 2, 1934; London, England; Decca
  Marion Harris (vocal)
Marion Harris

Cause I'm just singin' the blues
Till my daddy come back home
Now all I do is sigh and cry
To see what and why
So would you and you'd be blues too
You know is
Every blues strain I hear is
Put to fade to my really hard
Say I don't care that becomes of me
What's the good of living
When the man you love
The now you around
How can he stay away so long
When the owe I never didn't more
If he will all come back to sweetie
I huggin' and kissin' and sweetin' and teasin'
That's no all
That's no all I do
Cause all we know so much me
Too mean my man I love you so
Still I'm all alone
Now you gone
And I want to all I do
(get ta ta ... scat ... )
Say I could sigh
I could cry
And even I miss all night long
Oh, No
Oh, Yes
Oh, No
Oh, Yes I had even
Your sigh ??? lay me down I'll die

Oh daddy I've been weeping
Weeping like a willow tree
Ain't had a wink of sleeping
Where is your sympathy
All is black
On my shack
Since you say good bye to me

Meaniest
Sweety daddy mine
I recall a time
You used to love your mama
Best of all
Now maybe I shouldn't
Bring it up
But you'll rarely made me fall
You talk a baby doll
And now I sighing
Crying
All
I'd like to know
What made you go
If you got someone
Holding your hand
I'm gonna goin' to get myself of great big gatling gun

In a moment shoot you
Day a day a day at
I'm gonna send a lot of
Bullet to your head
And if they sent
Seventy to take

If that after me
All I gonna hear as
That all I knew
Cause they won't
Give a fool
After they heard the reason why
I've still heard the shoot
Oh me oh my oh mama
Got they can't refuse
Shooting blues

I'm singin' the blues
Because I just can't be gay
Since you've gone
I drank whole o' new gin
Ooh what a thrill
That couldn't down the sorrow
But bring that bottle of gin
Ain't nobody can do
Do
And a sing that'll bring me peace of mind
You're the only as man I know
That can love a gallant meed (or need) hit-and-run time

Glory dady but it get my nerve
Everytime I here myself moan
And if I got everything mean love
And a rarely deserve
I wouldn't be here alone
Oh pretty papa
Ease my pleading call
You know what I need
Don't leave me all alone
Singin' the blues
Till my daddy come home

Singin' the Blues Till My Daddy Comes Home
Barbara Lea at the Atlanta Jazz Party (JAZZology)

Singin' the Blues Till My Daddy Comes Home

Oh, I'm just singin' the blues
Till my daddy comes home

The meaniest feeling pursue
Since he left me all alone

And every blue strain
Puts on you pain
Into my heart

And I just sigh
At the crying part
Again a bad case of nerve
When I hear myself moan

If I got all I deserve
I wouldn't be here alone
So All alone

I just watch all night
Sitting by the window in the moonlight
Singin' the blues
Till my daddy comes home
