タイトル『誰の人生に対しても多少の雨が降るはず』とは『誰にも悪いことや不運なことが起こりえる』を意味する格言。この格言は 1935年頃には現れたとのことだが、その元となるのはアメリカの詩人ヘンリー・ワズワース・ロングフェローの詩 "The Rainy Day" (1842) からのフレイズに由来するらしい。
