※　おそらく映画や舞台とは関係のない 1939年頃に作られた歌で紹介した歌手は不明だが、スタン・ケントン楽団やベニー・グッドマン楽団（歌はマーサ・ティルトン）の録音が最も初期の録音だろう。
YouTube でヒットしやすいフォア・フレッシュメンは 1956年に、ジューン・クリスティは 1957年に録音している。

ジョー・スタッフォードのアメリカ軍ラジオ方法トランスクリプション盤 (1944) およびボビー・ノリスのアルバム Out of Nowhere (1999) ではヴァースから歌っているが、聞き取れなかったところがあるのでヴァースの訳はしていない。

作曲は当時トミー・ドーシー楽団にヒット曲を多く提供していたマット・デニスと分かるが、作詞に関しては Frank Killduff (or Kilduff) とする資料と、Brigham Townsend (or Townshend) とするネット・ソースいずれも複数存在しており、同一人物なのか、いずれかが間違っているのか判断しがたい。
