※ 1927年2月17日にベッシー・スミスがジェイムズ・Ｐ・ジョンソンの伴奏で歌ったもの。この歌は長らく、1927年のミシシッピ河大洪水を歌ったものとされてきたが、洪水の最悪時期は録音の２ヶ月後であり、調査の結果テネシー州ナッシュヴィルでの1926年のクリスマスに起きた、カンバーランド河の洪水（水位が17mまで及んだ）を歌ったものらしい（wiki より）
