※　1952年のポピュラー・ソングで、パール・ベイリー（ビルボード・チャートで17週、最高位７位）、 ルイ・アームストロング（１週だけ28位につけた）などのレコードがヒットした。

このヒット・ソングから派生して、『（争いごとなどが起こった時に）責任の所在は両方にある』 ということを意味するイディオムが生まれた。 更に、1982年レーガン大統領が記者会見でロシアとの関係について皮肉を言ったことから、国際的にも広く使われるようになったという。(wikipedia )
1984 年の映画『ベスト・キッド』（The Karate Kid) でも、 (It Takes) Two to Tango というこれとは別の歌が使われていた。

1961 年のベティ・カーターとレイ・チャールズのデュエット・アルバムでは、ヴァースを追加しているので、 この追加歌詞も訳してみた。

★：　アビ (loon) は鳥の名前で、恐怖に陥ったアビが大さわぎし、奇妙な鳴き声を発することから、 crazy as a loon というと「狂ったように」という意味になった。 ジョニー・マーサー作詞、ホーギー・カーマイケル作曲の Skylark という歌でもこのフレーズが見られる。
