I GOT OUT OF BED ON THE RIGHT SIDE
I got out of bed on the right side,
On the bright side,
On the light side--
I got out of bed on the right side,
And I'm having a wonderful day.
I sang a duet with the rooster;
I'm a booster
Of the rooster,
But he doesn't crow like he use-ter--
Couldn't handle my yodel-de-aye!

The eggs are beamin' sunny side up.
And as for my silver linin'
The coffee's steamin' money side up.
When the day rolls around to the night side,
If I still seem on the bright side,
I don't want to sound on the trite side,
But I figure it happened this way:
I got out of bed on the right side,
And I'm havin' a wonderful day.

お日様が照っていなくったって気にするもんか。
輝く卵はサニーサイドアップ（片面焼き）だから、
それに僕の輝く雲の縁（希望の兆し）は
コーヒーの湯気で金運も上昇って所。
昼から夜側に移ろうって時に、
僕が明るい昼側にいるように見えても、
仕様もない側にいると感じて欲しくないんだ、
でも僕は予想するのはこんなことが起きること：
僕はベッドの右側から起きたんでご機嫌さ
だから素敵な一日を過ごせるはずさ。
※ エスター・ウィリアムズ主演の水泳ミュージカル映画 Dangerous When Wet (1953）で、ウィリアム・デマレスト、エスター・ウィリアムズなどが歌った軽快なナンバー。
ジャズ畑で取り上げられることは少ないが、ジョイス・ブリーチの Odds and Ends : Joyce Breach (Audiophile, 2010)
やジョン・ピザレリの John Pizzarelli Sarultes Johnny Mercer Live at Birdland (2015)
などで歌われている。
曲名にもなっている最初の行は、ベッドの左側から起きるとその日は縁起が悪いという古代ローマ時代からある迷信から、右側から起きたので縁起のいい日だという意味。
