※ タイトルの「僕はリズムの配達小僧」は、「ごきげんなリズム・ソングを演奏するから楽しんでよ」といった心で、コールの歌った Straighten Up and Fly Right の系統に属する軽快なリズムを楽しむ歌だろう。
ダイアナ・クラール、ジョン・ピザレリ のナット・キング・コール・アルバムで歌われているが、どの演奏も押しなべて
ワン・コーラス歌った後にビートの利いた間奏をしている。
ダイアナ・クラールなど女性の場合は、I'm an Errand Girl for Rhythm とタイトルを変えて歌っている。
特に深い意味は歌詞にはないと思うが、俗語や口語が用いられているようで、分からない所はいい加減に訳してある。
例えば、 lace your boots といいうフレーズが出てくる。これは「靴ひもを締めて」という表面上の意味もあるが、
辞書には「（俗語）人に知らせる、気づかせる」という意味が載っていた。
gator はワニ (alligator) のことで、「ジャズ・ファン、ジャズ奏者、きざな野郎」などを意味する俗語とある。
Smokey Joe はジャズを演奏するクラブ名だろう。
