※：　失恋から心機一転「これから私は変わるの」と誓いを立てるスウィンギーな歌。歌詞は、同時期のジャズ・スタンダードである Old Fashioned Love と正反対の内容。

ビリー・ヒギンズ(同名のジャズ・ドラマーではない）がヴォードヴィルで紹介した歌だが、最初にレコーディングしたエセル・ウォーターズの歌がヒットして人気曲になった。 1941 年にはベニー・グッドマンがリヴァイヴァル・ヒットさせた。

歌詞ソースは、インターネット上のビリー・ホリデイやエセル・ウォーターズ歌詞サイト、手持ち CD やYouTube 各歌手の歌を聞き取りなどを参考に、それらを折中したものとなっている。

★ strut one's stuff は、（人目を引くため）いいところを見せる、といった意味。

★★ 1920年代～1940 年代におけるポピュラー・ソングの黄金時代には、日常会話で使われるありふれた表現を恋の歌に挿入し、それがタイトルとなる歌が多く作られたが、この歌もそれらのうちの一つである。
例：. I Can't Get Started, What'll I Do?, Sure Thing, How About Me?, It Never Entered My Mind, It Was One of Those Things, You Took Advantage of Me, I Didn't know What Time It Was etc. (The Poets of Tin Pan Alley - Philip Furia より）

ここで使われる made は to be made または have to be made を短縮した口語的表現かと思う。

★★★ 最初のコーラスは各歌手ともほぼ同じ歌詞だったが、間奏に続いて歌う２番の歌詞は歌い手によって異なった。例えば「ファッションを変なきゃ」「リチャード・プライヤーだってジョークを変化させるのだから古いものを新しくしなけりゃ」「髪型を変えて気分を一新するわ」といった具合。
